Inspired By #111

With earth day coming up on April 22nd I went with an Earth Day themed inspiration photo:

How will you be inspired?  colors, pop, recycling, Earth Day, sketch, beverage, large title...

I went with the sketch and created this layout of my daughter passing her learner's test, yay!  I used the Sightseeing Stew collection by Jillibean Soup, along with a Tim Holtz stamp set, a Silhouette cut and the key is cut with my Cricut.

Can't wait to see what you create!

Inspired By...#105

When I saw this inspiration I had to use it right away!  I think the colors are just so yummy!

How will you be inspired?  colors, check, metal, food, two...

I had to use the colors as I just love this combo! I hardly ever use any shade of purple in my creations but I love it with the navy and grays.  I created a teen themed card.  I used some Front Porch by Pebbles along with some plain cardstock. I embossed the card base with a woodgrain plate from Papertrey Ink.  I then stamped the SheArt Print Texture background on some gray cardstock. I cut a tag shape from some pattern paper and stamped the paint spots from the Epic Moments SMAK kit  and then layered the sentiment, some messy thread and some denim scrap. The flowers are from the Art Philosophy cricut cartridge and the sentiment die is from My Favorite Things.

I am linking up to the Simon Says challenge: Twine or String.

Inspired By...#93

It is time for another inspiration challenge and this week I chose some halloween colors but it certainly isn't a halloween picture.

How will you be inspired? colors, camera, number, trio, sketch...

I pulled out the colors and the trio and created a halloween card with the new Happy Haunting collection by My Mind's Eye.  I cut the trio of circles with my Silhouette and the spider with my Chic & Scary cricut cartridge.  The stamp is from CTMH and the twine is The Twinery.

I can't wait to see what you create!

Inspired By...#91

Well October is Breast Cancer Awareness month so I went with some pink inspiration.  My favorite color is baby pink and I LOVE this photo, baby pink, gray woodgrain and chalkboard what could be better?!

How will you be inspired? pink, woodgrain, flowers, embossing, shabby, chalkboard...

I was pretty literal with this one.  I used some woodgrain paper from the Cut & Paste Adorbs collection along with some papers and stickers from the Chalkboard Studio collection both by My Mind's Eye.  The sentiment is from the faith, hope, love, live by it by Unity (by the way... Unity has a great sale on their Cancer themed stamps...).  I used my Chicken Wire die from My Favorite Things along with some roses created with my Art Philosopy Cricut cartridge.  The twine is May Arts.

I used this week's Sketchbook Saturday sketch:

I can't wait to see what you create!

Since this is the first challenge I have a prize up for grabs!
The prize is a $25 Gift Certificate to the Unity Stamp Company!!!
It is no secret how much I love the Unity stamps so I am thrilled to share some Unity goodness with you!

Inspired By...#80

I was really inspired by this weeks inspiration!

How will you be inspired? stars, stripes, colors, metal, brads, fashion, shoes....

I really was inspired by the shoes and the colors.  As soon as I saw the photo I thought of my Trend Setter collection by Fancy Pants as I knew it would be perfect.  I used three different Unity stamp sets and then my Cricut to create the shoe.  I love this card!

I can't wait to see what you create!

Inspired By...#78

Here it is June already, wow I can't believe it.  It is going to be a crazy month around here with my daughter's grad, my dad's birthday, father's day... all fun stuff.  For this week, I was really drawn to this photo.

How will you be inspired?  radio, music, numbers, stacked items, colors, retro, trio...

I went with the vintage feel and the radio to create a birthday card, possibly for my dad.  I used the On Trend collection by Crate Paper, some Studio Calico mist and some Unity stamps.

I used this week's sketch from Retro Sketches

And I am also playing along with the Simon Says challenge 'S' - stitching, spray, staples, stacked (I layered a few items).

Now since this is the first challenge of the month I have a prize up for grabs.  I have a few items from the All About a Boy by Echo Park

Now I can't wait to see what you create!

Love, love, love these colors!

How will you be inspired? colors, fruit, sketch, paper piercing...

I went with the colors but then I added in the black for a funky retro kind of feel to my layout.  I love these photos I took of my daughter and boyfriend just goofing around one day.  I used the Park Bench collection by Fancy Pants, lots of Unity Stamp sets (mostly SMAK kits) and the Reel Life Die-namics, 3 X 4 Pocket and Stacking Star Die-namics.  The wooden veneer stars and speech bubble are from Studio Calico, the camera clip is from Freckled Fawn and the Washi Tape is from Cute Tape.  Finally, I also used my Suburbia Cricut cartridge to cut out the shoes and silhouette. I love how this layout turned out and I had a lot of fun creating it!

Some close ups, love the first pocket as the stamp goes so well with the photo.

I was inspired by a layout created by Amy Heller but unfortunately I can't find it to link to it, but her blog is so full of inspiration!

Now I can't wait to see what you create!

Inspired By...#72

Welcome to the new Inspired By challenge.  Today with chalkboards being so popular I went with this fun image as my inspiration.

How will this inspire you?  chalkboard, foliage, sentiment, colours, distressing...

I went with the chalkboard and the colors for my project.  I spray painted an old clipboard, distressed it with some white acrylic paint and then decorated it with some Yellow Submarine papers by Echo Park.  The flowers are cut with my Cricut and the sentiment is from my Silhouette.  I now have this hanging on this cabinet that graces our entry way.

I can't wait to see what you do!

Time for another challenge and in honor of Autism Awareness Month I chose some blue inspiration for you.

So how will this inspire you? colors, flowers, pleats, stripes, CAS...

I went with the colors and flowers to create this sassy card.  I used my Family Ties collection by Pebbles along with a couple of  Unity stamps and a Cricut Die cut.  The lines under her feet, 'shadow lines' have been stitched.

I can't wait to see what you do!

Inspired By... #64

In honor of Dr. Suess' birthday (he was born on March 2, 1904 and died on September 24, 1991) I thought I would have a Dr. Suess inspired challenge this week.  Now you can use this inspiration or if you have your own Dr. Suess inspiration, go ahead and use it just be sure to share it on your blog along with your project.

How might you use this inspiration:  use a quote, whimsical, Dr. Suess colors...

I decided to use part of a quote and go also with a fun whimsical feel to my layout.  I think this silly photo is pretty Dr. Suess too - makes me think of the Lorax!  I have used the Sweet Girl collection by Echo Park, along with a few Unity Stamps, some Twine, Elle's Studio cards and the title is cut with my Cricut.  The 'YOU' is mounted on foam circles for dimension.

I can't wait to see what you do!

Inspired By...#57

Welcome to another Inspired By Challenge.  Being that we are in the middle of winter I was inspired by this Wool Coat.

How will you be inspired by the photo: stripes, colors, texture, clothing, pocket... so many ways.

Believe it or not, this is not where I thought I would head when I was inspired but I am also needing to build up my Grad cards so that is where I ended up!  The paper is from Doodlebug, the hat is cut with my Locker Talk cricut cartridge and the stamps are from Paper Smooches.

I can't wait to see what you do.

Inspired By... #51

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my US friends!
I can't believe that this is my 51st challenge - it has almost been one year, wow!

I know I say this every week but I really love this photo, something about it just speaks to me.

I could think of so many ways to take this photo: distressed, school (ie the rulers), background pattern of the floor, colors...what will you do?

I have another guest up this week.  Amy plays along in many of my challenges and I always love what she creates!  This week is no exception!!!  The pattern of the floor made her think of chicken wire and she went to work creating an organization station.  I love this Amy!  Be sure to stop by Amy's blog, Amy's Art from the Heart for lots of great inspiration.

Thank you so much for being my guest Amy!

As soon as I saw that Exit sign in the photo I knew that I wanted to use that as a jumping off point to create a Christmas themed block.  I have a box full of wooden blocks that I picked up at a garage sale for 50 cents!  I also used it as inspiration to create a few items to add to my Christmas home decor.  Now I really wanted to stage this photo with some of the cute Santas that I have collected over the years.  However, with our house in an upheaval - most of our dining room and living room is full of kitchen stuff due to the kitchen reno... I just did not feel like digging out anymore stuff.  You will have to imagine it ;)  The black tray was a thrift store silver tray that I spray painted with chalkboard paint - no chalk at home, otherwise I would have written something Christmasy on it.

This frame was also something I picked up at a garage sale for next to nothing.  It had one of those chipboard oil paintings in it and the frame was gold.  I painted the frame black, then white then sanded it slightly to mimic the distressing of the chair in the photo.  The photo is a printable I found on Pinterest, I just printed it up on Textured Cardstock to mimic the look of a painted canvas.

Now here is the block.  I sanded it down a bit then rubbed a candle over it in spots so it would be easy to distress.  I painted the front and back white and the edges black, then sanded them slightly.  I used my cricut to cut out the word, then used it as a stencil.  This was so easy and quick.

I had fun creating these quick and easy projects - and they were so inexpensive, yay!

I can't wait to see what you do!

Inspired By....#50

We are right in the middle of a big kitchen renovation so this inspiration piece really speaks to me ;)

How can you take this?  the icons? colors? kitchen feel? collage? grid? I can't wait to see.

I decided to go with the colors and the baking theme and started getting ready for my Christmas baking (that is if my kitchen is done) by creating a little treat box to give them in.  I used my Winter Tortellini & Spinach Collection by Jillibean Soup.  The template is by Perfect Presention, the stamps are from Papertrey Ink and I cut the tag with my Tags, Bags, Boxes and More 2, the rolling pin with the From My Kitchen and finally the Gingerbread Man with my Gingerbread - all of them cricut cartridges.  Finally it is all tied up with some Jute Twine.

I can't wait to see what you create.

Inspired By... #49

When the weather cools off in the fall I always like to make some homemade soup for dinner, with some homemade bread.  Yum.  So that is where today's inspiration came from.

So where will you go with this one?  food, get well, circles, group of 3, colors...

I went with the colors of the photo and had fun creating this week's project.  I used my Tricks and Treats papers (yes, Halloween ones) from Pebbles, I love when papers can be used for so many things and I have said it before... I love this collection!  I used my Cricut to cut out the purse (Suburbia) and the roses (Art Philosophy).  I tucked a bit of some CTMH black tulle in with the roses.  The sentiment is from Unity.  Oh and the friend tag is an upcycled Maya Road tag that was attached to an album.  Wouldn't this card make a great gift card holder.

I can't wait to see what you create!

Inspired By...#45

I was really drawn to these milk containers and thought they would make such a great inspiration.

I love the retro feel, the text, the colors and the pennants on these... which way will you go?

I had a lot of ideas when I first pinned the picture but in the end I went with the pennant with a single word.  I used my cricut to cut out the word and backed it with some Country Pumpkin Chower by Jillibean Soup.  I then used a bit of May Arts Woven burlap ribbon, which I stretched out, along with a stamp from Technique Tuesday, some Jute twine and of course the buttons are from PTI.  The main panel is mounted of foam squares for dimension.

I am playing along with the following challenges:
The Pink Elephant - Fall inspiration
Die Cuttin Divas: Fall colors (for me orange, brown and kraft)
CASology: Leaf

I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Inspired By...#44

Happy October! I am loving the neutral color palette that has been popping up for Halloween lately so when I saw this photo I was all over it ;)

How will this inspire you?  Halloween, pumpkins, neutral colors, the texture or what about the black and white checked plate?

I immediately thought of my All Hallow's Eve collection by Carta Bella and went with the Halloween theme and the neutral colors.  I upcycled a garage sale plastic frame, an empty plastic spice jar and a glass whiskey bottle with some spray paint and some of the papers and stickers.  The witch silhoutte was cut with my Chic & Scary Cricut cartridge.  Such a quick, easy and inexpensive project for adding some more of the 'spooky' feel around our house.

Some close ups:

It is the first challenge of the month so I have a prize up for grabs:
