Inspired By #40

Well now I am back at it in the classroom.  I certainly did not get everything done in the summer as I had planned... when you are gone it is pretty hard to keep up around the house - oh well, a lot of fun was had.  Anyhow with the start of school, I am now ready for fall.

How will this inspire you? strips of paper, tweed, texture, fall, the colors...

I went with the theme of fall and tried to pull the colors and texture of the inspiration photo.  I used the Autumn Afternoon Collection by Lori Whitlock, available at Jessica Sprague.  I also used some May Arts Woven Burlap ribbon, which was too 'neat' for me so I stretched it and made it more rough.  I also wrapped and tied some May Arts Jute twine.  The May Arts items are available at the Ribbon Carousel.  I used the sketch from My Sketch World, but I can not seem to find it to link to it.

It is the first challenge of the month so I have a prize up for grabs.  A few fall themed items from SEI and Maya Road.

There will also be a random winner this week as well and that person will win a $10 Gift Certificate from Jessica Sprague, so be sure to join in on the fun!

Inspired By #39

Welcome to another Inspiration challenge.  We start back to school here next week so I was really inspired by this photo.

Where can you go with this? pencils, rainbow, triangles (a trend right now), pennants, woodgrain...

My final project is nowhere near where I thought I would end up when I started, LOL! I thought I was going to do a Back to School project but as you can see, I am far from it!  I ended up going with a lot of color and using the Grandma's Lima Bean Soup collection by Jillibean Soup. I have also used some V Striped Twill and a bit of Jute Twine (all available at the Ribbon Carousel), a Papertrey Ink die along with some Unity stamps to finish it off.  My mom turned 70 this year and I took advantage of everyone being together to get a shot of her with all of her grandkids.

I can't wait to see what you do this week.

Inspired By #38

Not that I want to rush or anything but fall is just around the corner as is school start up for me so... I thought this would be a great inspiration photo.  Have to say though I do love fall so I am looking forward to it.

Inspiration options: apples, grid, colors, gingham, plaid, paper piecing, texture....

For my project I created a Back to School notebook for myself.  Always handy to have one just for jotting down ideas from staff meetings and such.  I have used a mixture of Jillibean Soup papers and elements (Grandma's Lima Bean, Winter Tortellini & Spinach, Soup Staples) and I cut the apple with my Cricut.  I have also used some May Arts Jute Twine and Printed Twill, don't you love that all of this is available at the Ribbon Carousel... including the collection pack - one stop shopping!  Finally, the small apple die that I used for the negative strip is from PTI and the tab die is from My Favorite Things.

I used Kimber's 2Peas sketch for the front of my notebook cover:

I can't wait to see what you do this week.

Inspired By #37

Although there has been a lot of Back to School type of projects out in blogland, I am not quite ready for that yet ;)  We don't go back until the first week of September, although I am trying to get into the classroom to start prepping for the year, so I am trying to savor every last minute of summer.

I love the bright happy colors in this photo and it has such a summery feel to it.

So I am wondering how this will inspire you this week?  woodgrain, yellow, lemons, summer drink, colors... can't wait to find out.

I pulled a lot of elements from the photo - embossed woodgrain background, the yellow and blue and some of the gray/brown in the text paper.  I have had this Antique Store pattern paper from Pretty Little Studio for awhile now and decided it was time to dehoard.  The rooster die is from Papertrey Ink and the twine is May Arts.

I can't wait to see what you do this week.

Inspired By #24

Welcome to another Inspired By challenge.  We have been having such warm weather here (finally... it was such a terrible spring so far) I am starting to get the 'bug' for summer.  Although I don't like the heat, I sure do like the fresh fruit and veggies.  Strawberries are one of my favorites and I was really drawn to this inspiration photo.

What can you do with this inspiration? Obviously strawberries but also the colors, the jars - a trend right now, the basket, foliage...

I decided to go with the strawberries.  On the weekend I was out garage saleing and thrift store shopping.  I first picked up the wooden rolling pin and basket at a garage sale for next to nothing!  I then saw the plate at a thrift store and I knew exactly what I was going to do.  I stopped and picked up a strawberry plant on the way home and then went right to work.  I painted the handles of the rolling pin then covered it with some Nikki Sivils Audrey paper.  I got out one of my many (although dwindling) white cloth napkins and used some PTI stamp sets to stamp on it.  I finished it all off with a 'feel better berry soon' card.  Wouldn't this, along with some yummy strawberries, make a nice little gift for someone who is not feeling well.  I know I would love to get it!

Now some close ups.  Here is the napkin, plate and plant.  This is for the Scrapbookin' Adventures challenge - stamp it/

The pearls on the card are from Want2Scrap and the V Striped Twill and Twine are available at Ribbon Carousel.

Now I can't wait to see what you do!

Inspired By #9

Welcome to another Inspired By Challenge.  This photo really took my eye.  I love the colors and the feel of it.

Once again, there are so many ways to take this photo: the colors (I see some Valentine projects), the girlieness, shopping, dress form, vintage feel...  I can't wait to see what you do.

For my card I used the Crate Paper Paper Heart Collection and although this is a 'love/valentine' themed pack I went another direction with it.  The stamps are from Sparkle Creations (Fashion Karber) and The Stamps of Life (Hello to You).  The twine is from May Arts and the letter stickers are from October Afternoon.  I had fun once again with some paper piecing.  This is for the Shopping Our Stash challenge - people.

Link up by next Wednesday February 8th 11:59 PST.
I can't wait to see what you do!
